Types of Wood Flooring

You may want a solid wood floor for your living room and bedrooms, and is you do you can choose from engineered hardwood or solid wood. What’s the difference?

A solid wood floor is just that; made from real hardwood. It is the most expensive type of flooring thee is, but it’s very durable. Think of the flooring in centuries old houses. It’s water resistant although, it isn’t recommended for use in bathrooms and other wet areas. It is expensive, more so that engineered wood, but then it lasts a long time.

On the other hand, engineered wood flooring consists of a solid core of wood, or perhaps plywood, with the top surface being covered with a hardwood veneer. It’s cheaper than solid wood flooring and relatively easy to install.

Bamboo Flooring

Bamboo is a renewable and sustainable option for flooring. It’s one of the best types of flooring as far as durability goes, and it’s stylish and not too difficult to install. It is also fairly water resistant.

Tiles, Vinyl Plank, and Laminate

These types of flooring can be used in any room in your home. However, if cost is a consideration, floor tiles are the most expensive floor covering, although they are relatively easy to install, are scratch and dent proof, and water resistant. They might not look as good as a wooden floor, but they are attractive.

If you are trying to choose between vinyl plank and laminate, opt for vinyl plank because it’s easy to install and water resistant.
